About Our Aerie

Serving the Delphos community with pride, fellowship, and charity since 1898.

Who We Are

The Delphos Eagles Aerie #471 is a non-profit fraternal organization dedicated to giving back to the community of Delphos, OH. With a friendly family atmosphere, we provide social and recreational activities for members while raising funds for local and national charities.

Our motto, "People Helping People," guides everything we do. From our weekly social events to our major fundraising initiatives, every action is taken with the goal of making our community and our world a better place.

Our History

The Fraternal Order of Eagles was founded on February 6, 1898, in Seattle, Washington, by six theater owners who wanted to "bury the hatchet" after a musicians' strike. What started as "The Order of Good Things" quickly evolved into a major international organization.

Throughout its history, the Eagles have been at the forefront of major social changes in America:

  • Mother's Day: The Eagles are credited with establishing Mother's Day as a national holiday.
  • Social Security: The organization provided the impetus for the Social Security Act of 1935.
  • Anti-Discrimination: We pushed to end job discrimination based on age with our "Jobs After 40" program.
